8/12/14 Been busy just recently with a few more pics.

Saturday 18 October 2014

18/10/14 - After sorting out the gruesome business of another trip to hospital I've got down to a bit more work. This piece is of Wattie Buchan the lead singer of the band The Exploited, done in just black and white acrylics I think I can safely say it is probably the best piece of work I've done.

Sunday 21 September 2014

22/9/14 - Just got some pics back from the printers, Joe Strummer of the Clash, John Lydon and Roberto Duran and Marvin Hagler, haven't come out too bad.

21/9/14 - Got back from a short break in the Lake District on Monday, away for a few days before my next spell in hospital. Stayed at The Oddfellows Arms in Caldbeck, very nice, peaceful and quiet with top notch service from all concerned, would definitely recommend it to anyone wanting a quiet break. Got some nice photographs which I'm hoping to start on shortly.

Tuesday 26 August 2014

26/8/14 - Been really busy over the last couple of weeks trying to get some work ready for the Art Exhibition in Saltburn, run by the Saltburn Art Society. All went well with three pieces shown, one was sold and one of the others wasn't for sale but did create a lot of interest and was told that it could of sold several times over. It was voted second best by one vote by the viewing public, so there's a bit of kudos for me. Some of the other work completed is now listed.

Thursday 17 July 2014

17/7/14 - Two more pictures finished this month, I've a bit more time on my hands now that my watercolour class is on a summer break. The first is a scene from the classic and probably the best Western ever made, The Wild Bunch, a black and white acrylic painting featuring our four anti-heroes, Ben Johnson, Warren Oates, William Holden and Ernest Borgnine marching into town for the final showdown. The second piece is again an acrylic painting of two black Labrador heads.

Wednesday 9 July 2014

9/7/14 - Well after being backwards and forwards to hospital I can now catch up here a bit. Two larger pieces have been completed, one in acrylic and the other in pencil and graphite. The first is a picture of the knockout punch by Carl Froch in his rematch against George Groves and as a follower of boxing I can safely say I have never seen a more telling punch at such a stage of a fight, definitely one for the archives. The second piece is another pencil drawing, again influenced by the amazing artist Laurie Lipton, showing a photo shot of some of the type of people around at the time when Great Britain was still flexing its muscle and taking over less fortunate countries, it's called 'Death of the Empire', it doesn't necessarily mean 'the death of the British Empire' it is more broader than that and could be interpreted as the end of a government (always a sign for celebration) or the end of anything really that was supposed to mean something to someone, I'm sure most people can relate to the 'ending' feeling of one thing or another. I've also been getting some of my work printed up professionally and I can highly recommend THE IMAGE CENTRE in Whitby, a smashing bloke, very easy to do business with and has stuff ready when he says he will, I'm over the moon with the work he's done for me. I know its a long way to Whitby but with me its any excuse to go for a day out bumbling along the sea front with a lemon top, can't beat it.

Monday 12 May 2014

12/5/14 - Another piece completed, a variation of the famous pose by Aleister Crowley, ''the wickedest man in the world''but instead of Crowley, an image of Tony Blair has been substituted. Make of that what you will.

Tuesday 15 April 2014

15/4/14 - Here are two more finished pieces, lots on the go at present, beginning another while one is drying, no peace for the wicked. The first is a Steampunk reproduction of a skeleton at work, done in pencil/graphite and is playing card sized, while the secon is an acrylic from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, the original and still the best version with Gunnar Hansen and his chainsaw.

Wednesday 2 April 2014

2/4/14 - This is the first two completed miniatures, one of the classic Michael Caine pose from probably my all time favourite film Get Carter (even if he did throw Coronation Street's Alf Roberts off the top of a multi storey car park - scandolous) and the second is of Nick Cave of the Bad Seeds fame. Still have plenty on the go, including a Laurel and Hardy which will probably be the next one completed.

Monday 31 March 2014

31/3/14 - This is the few pieces of pyrography i've been working on, Baphomet the devil, Leatherface from the Texas Chainsaw Massacre,'Death is only the beginning'' in Egyptian hieroglyphics on a bangle and a Nosferatu trinket box. The next work is some miniature canvases, Day of the Dead, Steampunk and sillouhettes (I think that's spelt correctly) and stuff like that in acrylics but it's hard going on the eyes, long overdue an eye test.

Wednesday 26 March 2014

Another finished piece

26/3/14 - Here's another World War 1 pencil drawing complete in miniature form and also there will be some more pyrography items to show, they are being varnished at present.

Monday 24 March 2014

Some new work and new ideas

24/3/14 - Well here is a small watercolour picture just completed of a rodeo rider. I've also turned my hand to pyrography. Well I thought how hard could it be? I've used a soldering iron constantly at work and am able to use a pencil and i'm quite pleased with the results.

Friday 28 February 2014

28/2/14 - Well after a long lay-off here is some of the work i've been doing while i've been recouperating, a lot of different stuff done in pencil mainly. I've also resumed my watercolour painting by enrolling in a class to refresh what I know and learn a great deal more, it's been run by Katherine Harrison who is an excellent teacher and very easy to get along with. Some examples will follow shortly(hopefully).
